This week at our Gathering we focus on the crucifixion of Jesus, that day-long parade of cruelty and torture and suffering that is the touchstone of our faith. In Luke 23:26-49 we read the account and marvel at Jesus, the Lamb of God, our example of faith in suffering. In this grand injustice, Jesus secures our life and calls us to love sacrificially in turn. We will take communion together as we remember the cost of life abundant and eternal, and we hope to learn from Jesus how to endure through suffering.
